Every day, starting Thursday, November 14th at 12:01 am, we will publish a new theme for your next day’s blog entry. Each day, you will get a daily blog topic to blog about during the entire Nativity Fast. In order to give you the day ‘off’ for Thanksgiving, you will get two themes the day before (hint: The theme for Thanksgiving Day will be…. about giving thanks BUT a very particular way of giving thanks)

November 15th begins our annual blogging exercise, The 30(40) Days of Blogging, for priests, deacons, bishops, pastors, or anyone else who would like to get started in Pastoral Blogging.
Why such an early announcement?
There is a greater need than in previous years for good, consistent pastoral blogging – now more than ever, and there is no need to wait until the last minute to get ready. The rise of militant secularism, the advance and tacit support of fascist Islamists, and the curtailing of freedom of speech and freedom of religion makes blogging an important pastoral discipline. The world needs more discussion and writing on how Christ changes lives, how the Scriptures come alive and what a Christian is and isn’t (i.e., not a Muslim, not a Mormon, but we love them anyway).
Preachers Institute encourages would-be bloggers through this annual exercise, getting otherwise shy individuals and pastors to join others who pledge to blog every day from Nov. 15, for 30 – or better, for 40 – days. For brand new bloggers, this is the best time of year to make the effort, with fellow priests and pastors from around the country, as we count down the days of Advent and provide our readers with valuable insights, stories, anecdotes and teachings that will help make their preparations for Nativity more special, and more holy, than ever.
