Are You Ready?

race begins

For the Old Testament Challenge

By Fr. John A. Peck

By now, you should be well into your preparations if you plan on taking the Old Testament Challenge which starts Sept. 15th.

What?! You’ve not started yet?!

Well, don’t panic. You are probably not alone, and as people love to jump on the bandwagon at the last minute, here are some quick reminders demonstrating WHY you need to get ready.

1 – Prepare

Without a doubt, this is a serious understaking. Yes, yes, you’ve heard it before, but if you haven’t already done so, pick up your Bible and hold the entire New Testament between your fingers. Doesn’t look like much, does it? Yet, we typically have read that in 40 days during the Nativity Fast.

Now, hold the entire Old Testament between two fingers. Go ahead. Do it. I’ll wait. Yeah, that is what we are going to tackle. 85% of the Orthodox Bible. Make sure you have a Bible with all the books of the Orthodox Bible in it!

If you are failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

I want you to start this Challenge, and crush it.

2 – Habits

The habit of significant daily Bible reading is one which is well known in Orthodoxy, but often neglected. It’s rather like the secrets to a happy, healthy life. It’s not a secret.*

Likewise, especially in these darkening days, if you are not accustomed to regular, consistent time in the Holy Scriptures, and spiritual writings, you should get started now. Plato believed we were basically composed of our habits.

Was he wrong?

Why take the chance?! Establish this life-altering habit now.

3 – The Password

And now we come to it. The schedule for the Old Testament Challenge will not be available to the general public. You’ll need a password to access it, and any related posts and articles over the course of the 100 days. So the question remains – How do you get the password?

Many of you already have the key. If you have purchased our ebook, Learning the Old Testament the Orthodox Way, you have it. Just before the challenge begins, we will reveal where in the text to find the password. Once obtained, you have free access to material for the entire Challenge.

And should anyone be offended that it will cost them $3.99 to take this monumental challenge, just remind yourself that most people spend more at Starbucks for a single beverage.

Get serious. Get prepared.

Get yours today, if you don’t already own it.
